When it comes to gaming accessories, many of us are guilty of ignoring the importance of a supportive chair. Typically, the cost is the most off-putting aspect; even the more basic designs can set you back substantially. Attention to detail
Although it makes sense to invest in an excellent monitor or keyboard, it’s just as crucial to purchase a chair designed with support and comfort in mind.
I know I’ve just harped on about the importance of a supportive chair, but I’m also a sucker for a seat with finesse. Especially if I’m dropping a serious amount of money, which, in the case of the Razer Iskur V2 NewGen, is unavoidable.
Carrying a $649.99 / £649.99 / €599 MSRP, this is a significant financial investment. Still, I firmly believe it’s a worthwhile one, not least of all because Razer has paid attention to every element of its design.
It doesn’t just have a sculpted memory foam head cushion or ultra-wide shoulder arches and seatbase – which are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to its incredible features – but it’s also made to make a statement.
I opted for the black and lime green seat, despite being extremely invested in the Quartz colorway. So, if I was so attracted to the pink option, why did I settle for the black and green? Quite simply, so I can see the stitch detailing pop. I have a chaotic office (that’s putting it mildly), yet the first thing you notice is that vibrant green; it’s playful yet elegant.
Support tailored to your body
You might not care about back support right now, but let me assure you it quickly becomes a priority as you get older. In truth, I’ve had the spine of an old person for years, but my point still stands: you need to take care of your back. Sorry, folks, but sitting like a shrimp for hours on end isn’t a good idea.
Plenty of gaming chairs offer some form of lumbar support; however, they fail to acknowledge body diversity; for example, I’m quite short, so where I need lumbar support will differ from someone who’s 6ft.
For the Razer Iskur V2 NewGen, “all shapes and sizes” are taken into account, most notably in the form of the World’s First Razer HyperFlex™ Lumbar Support System.
It’s a bit of a mouthful to say, but that doesn’t negate how much of a game-changer it is. With a mere twist of a knob, you can raise or lower where the lumbar support sits. Moreover, with the twist of another knob (I’m saying that word a lot), you can increase or decrease how prominent said support is. Without Razer ever measuring your body, it’s created a seat that feels tailor-made.
Easy construction – even for novice builders
I’m not built for heavy lifting. I could be, but I’ve chosen not to enhance my muscles; ergo, I need a chair I can easily construct.
Although the Iskur V2 NewGen is best put together with a helping hand, as its instructions suggest, you can build it yourself. There are heavy components that make up this seat, so I recommend you don’t go it alone if you lack strength. That said, as a weakling, I managed fairly well. Full disclaimer here: I had my partner on standby in case I struggled with anything.
Whether you call for aid or not, there are thorough yet concise instructions to guide you through every step. Not all brands do this, as I bitterly recall having put together a rival premium seating option, one which assumed you didn’t need decent instructions because, clearly, everyone is a mind reader.
Better still, Razer provides all the tools you’ll need, with those items neatly presented and packaged too. Seeing such thought go into every aspect of this seat’s design made me (see: my back and behind) fall in love with it even more.

For me, it’s definitely worth the money. Nonetheless, I’m well aware that over $600 / £600 / €600 for a chair, regardless of how exceptional it is, is an eyewatering amount that will price people out.
I sincerely believe cheaper chairs will leave you wanting – I’ve tried it, and my poor back remembers the pain all too well.
Although you’ll have to technically buy the chair before you can test it, you have “14 days of risk‑free returns on your gaming chair.” Provided you buy it directly from Razer, that is. Alternatively, other online retailers carry it.
Technically, no, you can game on a dining chair or sofa if you’re so inclined. But if you’re hoping to invest in your set-up, a properly made, comfy gaming chair can help you play in comfort.
