Building a gaming set-up can take a solid chunk of time, resources, and research, and one element that’s crucial to get right is your monitor. A low-quality monitor can hamper your gaming experience significantly, making games look clunky or washed out.
If you’re hunting for a premium monitor that offers plenty of flexibility and customization as a user, the Mobiuz EX271UZ is worth considering. While it’s on the high end of the price spectrum, it’ll make the perfect addition to some folks’ set-ups. Here’s Kyusai’s full BenQ Mobiuz EX monitor review.
Sleek and stylish

The BenQ Mobiuz EX271UZ is a premium QD-OLED gaming monitor that feels sleek, stylish, and like it was crafted with gamers in mind.
Thanks to the team at BenQ loaning Kyusai a review sample, I got the chance to check out the monitor in person, putting it through its paces with everything from Blasphemous II to Genshin Impact. Based on my time with the monitor, I was impressed, particularly with the level of freedom it provides its users.
With a 27-inch screen, 240Hz refresh rate, and a generous heaping of custom color profiles to play with, this monitor aims to delight users by letting them experience their favorite games in the best light possible, so to speak, enhancing color mixes and palettes.
This is the first time I’ve spent any time with a premium gaming monitor – I’ve been using the same old screen I picked up for my first gaming PC 5 years ago, and had never spent too much time worrying about refresh rate or image quality. What can I say, it was £50 from my local CEX, and it works fine.
Now that I’ve spent some time with this BenQ piece, though, I can see how much of a difference a quality monitor can make.

Visually, the monitor looks fantastic, with a sleek, futuristic aesthetic that feels in keeping with the existing BenQ line of products. It’s got a black-and-white color scheme, which made it look like a perfect match for the PlayStation 5 I used for the review.
Assembly was decently easy, too – I’m not particularly handy, but got it set up and running within a few minutes without too much trouble. The monitor has a chunky arm and a sturdy base, meaning once it’d been screwed in and placed on the desk, it felt safe and unlikely to topple or wobble too much.
With a 27-inch screen, I found the monitor to be perfectly sized; screen sizes are a fairly subjective thing for gamers, but as someone who largely plays horror games, Metroidvanias, and exploration-heavy games like Infinity Nikki, I found it fit my needs nicely. Competitive gamers may find it to be slightly on the smaller side, though.
Packed with useful features

Something that stood out to me when setting up the monitor was how many ports it offered for easy connectivity.
There’s a generous sprinkling of USB ports – including USB-C and USB Type-A, with one 90W Power Delivery USB-C port. There are also two HDMI ports, one of which falls into the eARC category, making it easier to get higher-quality audio from a soundbar or similar piece of tech.
There are also plenty of fun settings to mess with once you’ve got the monitor up and running, with the option to control it all from a neat remote that comes in the box.
Color profiles are one of the biggest offerings with the Mobiuz EX271UZ. You can cycle through different visual settings, like realistic, sci-fi, and fantasy, all aimed at enhancing specific types of gaming visuals by adapting contrast and light.
I found these profiles to be fun to experiment with, and they offered the most value for games that leaned towards a more realistic art style. Games like Blasphemous II with a pixelated art style didn’t benefit from the color profiles as much, although it was still interesting to see how the game looked with them.

I also liked the fact that you could manually tweak the blue light settings, too, helping me make my gaming sessions feel cozier and less intense on my eyes if I was playing a game at night.
The BenQ Mobiuz EX271UZ felt like a premium addition to my gaming set-up, and I spent more time than I care to admit messing around with the various settings it had on offer. Setting it up was simple; it looked fantastic both with its image quality and hardware, and it gave me plenty of customization options.
The pricing will likely be a sticking point for some gamers. The Mobiuz EX271UZ usually clocks in at $1049.99/£799.99, with prices varying somewhat based on your chosen retailer. While it’s certainly not the most expensive QD-OLED monitor out there, it’s on the high end of the price spectrum.
Based on this, I’d recommend the Mobiuz EX271UZ for gamers who are looking to invest in a premium monitor for their set-up, particularly if they enjoy genres like competitive shooters and realistic-leaning RPGs, so they can get the most value out of the color profiles.
