At Kyusai we believe that transparency is everything. We carry ourselves with the simple mission statement of getting to the point and keeping things lean for the ever-changing gaming, tech and esports world.
You can think of the Kyusai editorial policy as the golden rules for our website, an ironclad set of standards that will remain throughout our operations, to hold us accountable in pursuit of our mission.
Kyusai means salvation from the current media landscape
There’s no easy way to say it, the current climate of gaming, tech and esports media needs saving. Kyusai is here to disrupt and raise the standards for fans and enthusiasts without shilling, bombarding you with advertising, or soullessly trying to sell you something. We believe in clear and concise coverage that’s always reader-first, not just to appease an algorithm, and that will never change.
Here at Kyusai, we believe that less is more. That’s why you won’t see thousands of words poured out onto the page. If a story is good enough then it should be able to be told succinctly and still have an impact. There’s no need for stuffed intros or alienating prose for the sake of it. We pride ourselves on being accurate, timely, informative, entertaining, and accessible without gatekeeping the gaming, tech or esports communities.
Why Kyusai reviews are different
You will never see arbitrary review scores, stars or other numerical shorthand used across Kyusai. Simply put, we do not believe that an opinion can be properly articulated with numbers and that an unreasoned rating takes away from the primary purpose of reviews coverage, which is the expectation that our long-form features will be read beginning to end.
Everything we do at Kyusai is made with the utmost care, purpose and attention to detail. We have faith in our returning (and new) readers that what we produce will be thoroughly read, and have a clear line of communication that takes the story forward. As such, it is up to the individual writer or editor to deliver a clear verdict throughout the copy without reliance on visual symbolism. We stand by what we say and we hope we’ll earn your trust and respect for that.
Our commitment to transparency extends to how we receive game codes, tech products, and invites to esports events. At Kyusai, we work with some of the largest publishers, developers and sponsors in the scene, with the understanding that access journalism does not automatically guarantee good coverage. In other words, just because we’ll receive a review unit or a free copy of a game will never color our opinion. We are fiercely unbiased and independent and we believe that you deserve nothing less than this from us.
Kyusai’s commitment to quality
Kyusai is primarily crowdfunded through Ko-Fi to fund our mission of delivering independent world-class gaming, tech and esports journalism free from the typical trappings of the industry. Without our readers, we will never be successful or have a platform to inform, educate, and entertain people, and we are very much aware of this.
There will never be AI-generated or AI-assisted content published on Kyusai. We are completely human written for our ever-growing audience, and we will never rely on automation. We know that you’re spoiled for choice with a vast array of options out there so we will never take your time for granted; every reader is valued, as is every click and each share on social media which gets the word out about what we are doing.
In other words, we could not do this without you, and we’ll never forget where we came from. Tell your friends, we’re taking over.
