33 Immortals leaves early access, and the rebellion against divine judgment begins in full on June 10.
The co-op action roguelike from Thunder Lotus — the Montreal-based studio behind Spiritfarer, Sundered, and Jotun — launches Version 1.0 on Steam, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store next week. Inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, 33 Immortals puts up to 33 players in the role of damned souls rebelling against divine judgment, combining roguelike progression with large-scale cooperative battles rarely seen in the genre.
After more than a year of updates, balancing, and community feedback, the full release will include all three playable worlds — Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso — the game’s final boss encounter, God, and a range of quality-of-life changes. For players who have followed the game since its beta tests and early access launch, Version 1.0 marks the culmination of a long development journey.
“Version 1.0 represents everything we wanted the game to become, and we can’t wait for players to discover the complete journey, face the ultimate boss, and explore everything the full release has to offer,” said Thunder Lotus’ Creative Director, Stephan Logier.
Why join the rebellion in 33 Immortals
33 Immortals stood out from the moment it was revealed, thanks to its unusual mix of roguelike action and MMO-inspired raid mechanics. Rather than sending players into battle alone, the game asks “33 damned souls” to work together to survive enemy hordes, dodge divine punishments, and defeat area bosses inspired by Dante’s vision of the afterlife.
The game earned praise throughout Early Access for its beautiful hand-drawn art style, atmospheric soundtrack, and engaging large-scale battles. However, players also pointed out areas that needed improvement, including onboarding for new players, progression systems, and some quality-of-life features — all of which are finally coming with Version 1.0 next week.
Thunder Lotus spent the past year addressing much of that feedback while staying closely connected to its community. The developers regularly hosted livestreams showcasing upcoming updates, shared development insights through their newsletter, and actively gathered feedback through the studio’s official Discord server. Each major update brought new refinements as the team worked alongside players to shape the final experience.
With Version 1.0, players can finally experience the complete 33 Immortals story from beginning to end and take on the ultimate challenge of defeating God. After years of development and months of player feedback, Thunder Lotus asks you to join the rebellion on June 10 on all major platforms. Will you answer the call?
