True to its namesake, the XTRFY K5 Pro TMR is a compact 65% wired gaming keyboard with TMR sensors and all-star Cherry MK Crystal Magnetic switches as standard. These are hot-swappable, making them easy to change if you prefer a different typing and gaming experience from the smooth, linear feel as standard. Not that you should, though, because the MK Crystal switches are among the best and most responsive switches I’ve ever used.
The Cherry XTRFY K5 Pro TMR Compact features an 8,000Hz polling rate as standard, which is what you need nowadays for playing esports games. Because it’s a wired deck, you don’t have to worry about latency issues, not that Kyusai experienced any with the equally excellent wireless Cherry XTRFY MX 8.2 Pro TMR. As with that deck, you’re getting the same 0.01mm actuation precision and incredible responsiveness, all in an incredibly sleek form factor.
Looks are subjective, sure, but I adore how the Cherry XTRFY K5 Pro TMR Compact looks and feels. Its aesthetics are far from understated, prioritizing functionality over form, and this is compounded by its relatively thick side bezels. I like the angular, aggressive nature of the board, complete with its red stripes in each corner. It looks menacing, and particularly sharp when illuminated by the RGB lighting in darker environments. It also happens to be well-built, with the multi-layer sound dampening and rigid metal plate, putting up enough resistance under stress without the usual riotous thunder I’m used to when gaming.

I’ve been using the Cherry XTRFY K5 Pro TMR Compact as my main keyboard for work and play for several months now, and I’ve routinely found myself swapping back to it after finishing reviews of competitor decks. I work fast, I talk fast, and I game to a high level, and I feel properly accommodated by this gaming keyboard; that’s the main core of what you need to know.
