VALORANT agents are a tricky subject; each player’s play style is different, and they will favor different agents, but the more you understand their strengths and weaknesses, the more you will see that some agents are just better than others.
Here, you’ll find an evaluation of my agent tier list based on my experience playing through the VALORANT ranks to Immortal.
Kyusai’s VALORANT agent tier list
While I may not be an expert on all VALORANT agents, those in the higher tiers are undeniably more impactful than those in D-Tier. I mean, can you really compare a Sage player to a Jett player?
| Tiers | VALORANT agents |
| S-Tier | Jett, Omen, Vyse, Sova |
| A-Tier | Raze, Clove, Killjoy, Breach, KAYO, Neon, Waylay, Yoru, Fade, Phoenix |
| B-Tier | Iso, Viper, Veto, Cypher, Astra, Brimstone, Skye, Reyna |
| C-Tier | Chamber. Deadlock, Tejo, Gekko |
| D-Tier | Sage, Harbor |
S-Tier VALORANT agents

S-Tier agents are just a cut above the rest. You’ll see these in most of your games, the most popular obviously being Jett, normally instalocked first, so if you are a Jett main, better get better internet to load in quicker. Though all of them will be a valuable asset to every map on any team, they will make any comp even stronger.
They are your duelists: Jett, Controller Omen, Sentinel Vyse, and Initator Sova. As an Initiator main, I have the most experience with Sova and can personally say that if you get good with his utility, you can be the game changer on your team. With this VALORANT agent, you can dominate the map, supporting your duelists through the line, the defending the spike with your shock dart lineups.
A-Tier VALORANT agents

A-Tier VALORANT agents, while not the superstars that are S-Tier agents, are extremely powerful and effective but may be more situational. Most of them require a certain level of learning or skills, like with Raze or Waylay, you will need to learn how to exploit their abilities to your advantage.
More of the lower skill ones still require some knowledge or teamwork, like with Killjoy, you will need to know how to place that utility, as one Shock dart from Sova will destroy your entire defence.
Then you have Clove, your solo enby that doubles as a controller, even though they are technically listed as a controller, with their abilities, you have the freedom to play them literally however you want. Extremely versatile agent.
B-Tier VALORANT agents

B-Tier VALORANT agents are perfectly viable; however, they may not always work in higher ELO lobbies, or there may just be another agent that outclasses them. Players still love to instalock Reyna because she does not need teamwork, and in “those” lobbies, we all know how those games go.
But some others may just be extremely situational for very specific maps or only viable when paired with others. I can’t remember the last time I played SKye outside of bind, and even then, you can probably make the argument that others are better
Or it may just be that you need a lot of skill to play, and to be honest, I’ve still never played Astra. Besides the fact that I’m not a controller main, I’ve yet to meet a competent Astra player in ranked play.
C-Tier VALORANT agents

While not entirely useless, these are the agents you see picked, and you often end up thinking, “Why them?” It doesn’t mean you’ll have a bad game, as they can still be useful, but you will struggle to find a viable reason you picked that one over another. You will need to have a specific strategy in mind for these ones.
D-Tier VALORANT agents

D-Tier VALORANT agents are, in a word, “useless”. Now I know Harbour has been buffed, but is that enough to erase the stench of bad off him? And then, Sage players are a lost hope; everything they have is completely counterable and not viable in any way, unless you’re Grim, I suppose, the only decent Sage player in the world.
FAQs
VALORANT appeals to CS players because it was similar enough to transfer skill while different enough to keep it fresh. It caught that momentum and kept going from there.
As a woman, I find the community more appealing. There are just more women around, and that environment feels safer. Riot appeals more to women through Game Changers, and its female characters are not overly sexualized.
Confirmed by Riot in December 2022, Raze and Killjoy are in a lesbian relationship. We then got Clove as the game’s first enby using they/them pronouns. Personally, I love to see this representation in the game.
VALORANT is certainly always growing. We are seeing more and more people play every day the player base continues to grow.
