After years of anticipation, rumors, data breaches, and pre-alpha leaks, Marvel’s Wolverine is confirmed for September 15, 2026. Sony has posted to X, confirming the game is available to wishlist now.
The road to release hasn’t been easy for Insomniac Games. The studio was hit with a ransomware attack in 2023. When the studio refused to pay, the Rhysida ransomware group released a substantial amount of data online. The leaked data included pre-alpha prototype footage of Marvel’s Wolverine and sensitive employee information.
As a huge fan of Insomniac Games, I’m naturally excited for the next title from the studio. The studio has delivered hit after hit for PlayStation. Insomniac Games released four titles for the PS5: Spider-Man Remastered, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Spider-Man 2 were all released for Sony’s current console. Each game received praise from critics and fans alike.
Marvel’s Wolverine is gory and stylish
Marvel’s Spider-Man games are amazing, but have kid-friendly action with almost no bloodshed. Spider-Man is not known for slicing and dicing his enemies, though. Logan doesn’t have that problem, as the full trailer goes into all the savage details.
Wolverine is as gory as fans wanted, with plenty of bloody stabbings and angry growls to enjoy. The trailer also introduced a few major enemies Logan will face during the adventure. He will face off against The Reavers, Prime Sentinels, and Omega Red. Mystique also makes an appearance, but she didn’t show her villainous side.
Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine is set in the same universe as Marvel’s Spider-Man games, opening the door to a possible crossover.
Marvel’s Wolverine is releasing two months before Grand Theft Auto 6, giving it ample space to breathe. While wishlists are available, nothing about the price or editions has been confirmed yet. We’ll be sure to update you as we get closer to the game’s anticipated launch date.
