Devolver Digital has announced Heave Ho 2 from Le Cartel Studio with a Summer 2026 release window. The anticipated multiplayer party game sequel is confirmed for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
The Heave Ho 2 gameplay trailer shared by Devolver Digital showcases new co-op and “spiteful” multiplayer modes, which see two to four players engage in colorful, physics-based carnage.
The biggest innovation over its predecessor, 2019’s Heave Ho, is the new addition of full native online multiplayer. The original game only offered local multiplayer; however, workarounds were possible via Parsec and Steam Remote Play Together, which simulated the experience.
Heave Ho 2 solves this problem and looks to massively expand with its co-op and multiplayer focus. No concrete release date has been announced yet, aside from Summer, but it’s possible we could see the sequel launch in August, as with the original title.
Another fun party game from Devolver Digital
Devolver Digital, more than any other indie studio, thoroughly understands what its audience wants. It has carved out a good chunk of the independent scene for good reason; it delivers more of what gamers want from the medium.
It’s unclear at this stage whether Heave Ho 2 will launch on PC via Steam, as this kind of game seems tailor-made for Nintendo’s audience and ecosystem. The Nintendo Switch is the second best-selling video game console of all time, with more than 155 million units sold. The Switch 2 is catching up, with over 17 million systems shipped.
In other words, there’s a decent chance that Heave Ho 2 will be bigger, better, and more widely played than its predecessor. I’m looking forward to throwing the rest of the Kyusai team into floating platforms and off ledges, all under the guise of “jolly co-operation”.
