There’s been no shortage of genuinely funny April Fools’ Day jokes emerging from gaming, tech, and esports companies on social media today. Truly, everyone from MSI to Opera, Konami to Liquipedia knocked it out of the park.

Kyusai tips its hat to some good April Fools’ bits as the talented social media editors of some of our favorite organizations understood the assignment. While it’s unlikely anyone actually fell for any of this, there’s no doubting just how amusing some of this was.

I can’t stop laughing at the MSI FPS-TURBO USB drive. A simple USB dongle that promises “up to +9999″ FPS” with zero lag and plug & play functionality, thanks to “AI Frame Boosting”. This seems like a jab at a certain GPU manufacturer that will remain unnamed here. I like to think that it’s powered by a real dragon, which makes the joke even funnier.

It’s old but gold. The fabled idea of “downloading RAM”. When we were kids, we all thought that we could simply speed up our computers with software. How naive we were, and how clever of Overclockers to hone in, especially at a time when RAM sticks were like gold dust; we all wished it was true, how great life would truly be.

I’ve often wondered how a cat would get on with the Logitech G Pro X2 Superstrike. I’m unsure if a kitty could take on our Josie Clark in an Aimlabs contest, but the LayStation? That’s more of a pet’s speed. It’s loosely modeled after a headset cradle. I like to imagine this theoretical accessory would somehow speed up your cat, maybe giving them the ultra zoomies? Who can say?

This got me. I laughed about this bit for more time than I care to admit; just the idea that the popular gamer-centric browser would randomly roll this out is chaotic evil, and I’m all for it. Love the caption, too “enjoy”, no remorse, just pure anarchy. Perfect for the lightweight web client.

So many esports teams, so little time. Liquipedia took some creative license with many popular names. I’m particularly fond of the Faze scribble, same as well with the poorly drawn devil horns decking out Evil Geniuses. It’s racked up over two million views and counting; do you spot your favorite team here?

Leave it to Konami to appeal to thirsty horror game fans. Jimmy boy is available in near life-size to cuddle up to at night, easing your “sadness, anxiety and trauma”. That’s a package deal if ever I heard one. It sounds far more pleasant than driving your car into a lake for a happy ending anyway (I never forgot about Return to Silent Hill).

What could go wrong with an inflatable PC case? The Y70 Puff looks like the ideal way to keep all your computer’s core components safe and secure, particularly when lounging in the pool. It pumps up in seconds and is ready to go. What could possibly go wrong?

One for our UK esports readers now, Colin the Caterpillar, a staple of middle-aged mothers’ birthday parties, replaces the fearsome Baron Nashor. He’s arguably even scarier, particularly with his blank chocolate button eyes, ceaseless tongue, and bright buttons on his back. Dare you enter the chocolatey domain?
