Wolfenstein 3 rumors are circulating based on new reports claiming that MachineGames is already underway on the story and motion capture for its anticipated first-person shooter franchise.
Emergent news of Wolfenstein 3′s apparent production was first reported by MP1st, which has allegedly uncovered codenamed “Valkyrie”, relating to a new entry in the franchise, with story ties to the Wolfenstein franchise as part of its casting call.
It’s believed that the Wolfenstein 3 story could center on a young Ukrainian orphan named Sofiya, who is said to form an unlikely bond with series protagonist William Blazkowicz. The report alleges that the performance capture for the game could begin in April 2026, with shooting dates stretching throughout this year.
MachineGuns’ Performance Director Tom Keegan and Casting Director Emily Schweber are said to be involved in Wolfenstein 3. Both are known for their casting in the studio’s previous game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which lends credence to the current crop of rumors.
Other claims on social media regarding Wolfenstein 3 have been more lofty. The Doom Dominion via X alleges that the game could see a “late 2027 release on all platforms” and feature a “darker tone” than what was previously seen in The New Order and The New Colossus before it.
A conclusive end to the new Wolfenstein series?

Details are thin on the ground regarding the future of the Wolfenstein series, itself among the first-ever first-person shooters to grace the video game medium. The current rumors circulating have been corroborated by legacy media outlets such as Windows Central and Kotaku, but anything concrete still remains a mystery so early into 2026.
MachineGames kickstarted the franchise with Wolfenstein: The New Order in 2014, which was hailed as a return to form for the grandfather of the FPS genre. It was followed up a year later with the standalone affair, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, before Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus dragged the series’ canon out from its World War II setting and into 1960s America.
The last we would hear about the series manifested in the form of the co-op shooter, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, which saw players embody the daughters of BJ Blazkowicz with powerful new weapons and gadgets. The title was set in Paris, France, and brought the franchise into the 1980s.
Where does that leave us for Wolfenstein 3? Judging from the alleged casting details, it appears as though the setting may continue on from Youngblood, meaning a game set in the 1980s or as far flung as the 1990s. Kyusai will continue with this developing story and update you when it knows more.
