In VALORANT, you can’t win a game purely by aiming; you need utility, you need upgraded weapons. It’s all well and good to be able to hit the head, but you’re not winning with a classic against a vandal because you’re broke. Here, I’ll teach you how to come out on top of the VALORANT economy game every time.

Win / Loss Bonus: You need to know this

Basically, it boils down to this: you win a round, you win the maximum amount per player, which is 3000 credits. You lose a round, and you win some money, which increases with consecutive losses. Simple, right? Have a look at the table below for a visual aid.

Round Win / Loss Reward
1x round win3,000 credits
1x round loss1,900 credits
2x round loss2,400 credits
3x round loss2,900 credits

It is important to note that attackers will also get 300 credits for a spike plant, and each kill on a round on either side will net you 200 credits.

What to do with your credits? It’s easy

At its core, VALORANT features a round-based credit system. I assume you know this already, but you use these credits to buy abilities or utility and guns, or Armor, basically everything you need to win a round. The quality of the VALORANT guns and shields you buy will depend on how many credits you use.

The general loadout you’re going to want to go for is Vandal or Phantom (basically whatever suits your playstyle), enough abilities to help your team or yourself, and full shields. You don’t need an upgraded pistol, and you don’t need the most expensive weapon. This is your basic every buy round loadout, it’s easy!

Think beyond just yourself

But wait, maybe it’s not a good idea to spend all your money in one go. You have to think about the wider picture. If you have enough to buy and your team doesn’t, maybe you want to save with them or drop some sheriffs around. Keep that economy even across the board so you can coordinate with your team; it’s just the VALORANT economy rules.

Full Buy – This is often when you can afford all the abilities and guns you want. Remember that standard loadout I told you about? This is where you buy it, but make sure your whole team can.

Force Buy – This is when you use all your credits to purchase everything available. This can appear as a strong or weak buy and is typically a Hail Mary attempt to regain some rounds. This is a low win percentage, but sometimes needed if you’re on the back foot.

Eco Round – This is a pure economy round; you’re out of credits, and you need a boost, so you take a round, don’t buy anything, and just get your funds in order.

Half Buy – This is where you’re not buying all the way down like a force, but you have more than an ec, light shields, maybe some SMGs, you would use this when you have some funds to play with but not enough for a buy personally, a sheriff and full armor is my go to for this.

How it all plays together

Teamwork is essential in the game; it’s about the whole, not the individual. Image credit: Riot

It can seem daunting, but you just need to think of all this through your game; it’s the invisible line that might be separating you from your next rank up, or even from the VALORANT esports scene if that’s your dream.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to managing your money well, being a team player, not just buying whatever you can think of, the wider picture, and then, after all that, it’s about actually hitting some heads.

FAQs

How many rounds are in VALORANT?

In your typical game, you’re looking at 12 rounds a side and 12 rounds to win, so it can span from 13 rounds to 24 rounds. But then you’re entering overtime, where it can go on for longer.

How does Riot Games make money from VALORANT?

Skins, weapon skins, bundles, they release these usually with the addition of a new act or episode. They are priced quite high and make the company money.

Can I get VALORANT skins for free?

Yes, you can get free skins through the battle pass. You do not need to buy it to get these skins; however, they will lack the special effects and animations of the paid ones. This is to encourage you to buy the bundles in the store.
