Stupid Never Dies might be one of the most psychedelic games to come out in 2026, based on the first glimpse of the title. It’s an upcoming 3D action RPG, focusing on a lovestruck zombie named Davy, with a playstyle that’s described by the team as “funky zombie action.”

I had the opportunity to take part in a hands-off preview of Stupid Never Dies, courtesy of the GPTrack50 team, and can confirm – the game looks unbelievably funky, zombie-packed, and action-heavy. Here are the key details about Stupid Never Dies, including the myriad of combat Styles on offer.

Stupid Never Dies looks stupidly fun and chaotic

In Stupid Never Dies, players are placed in the blood-soaked sneakers of Davy, a hapless zombie. While shuffling around a mall in the apocalyptic future, Davy stumbles across a girl named Julia who’s frozen to death in a freezer – and immediately falls in love with her, determined to bring her back to life.

While he may be unassuming and weak in the regular world, often getting picked on by other monsters, he becomes a whole new Davy when he finds a strange Phoenix Egg and ends up going on a dungeon-diving quest at the behest of the strange Dr. Frank.

The story felt silly and lighthearted, yet it also seemed to have real depth. I loved the duality of Davy; he’s shy and non-threatening in the regular world, but post-Phoenix Egg and inside a dungeon, he becomes much stronger, both in a literal and metaphorical sense.

We didn’t get to check out the game for ourselves in the preview, but we were treated to a deep-dive into the combat in Stupid Never Dies. The combat is ridiculously detailed, and it seems like it’ll make up a bulk of the gameplay, with a timed dungeon-crawling format and a slew of different locations to explore.

While dungeon-diving, Davy can access a myriad of different Styles by eating an enemy’s Core. Each Style has a unique style of play; if Davy consumes a Vampire’s Core, for example, he can turn into a swarm of bats, while a Harpy can fling projectiles at enemies and fly around.

We were shown 11 Styles in total, which included:

  • Zombie
  • Werewolf
  • Harpy
  • Golem
  • Vampire
  • Will-o’-the-wisp
  • Cyclops
  • Snow Fairy
  • Merfolk
  • Lich
  • Demon

Not only does this list point to a wide variety of ways to play in Stupid Never Dies, but it also highlights that there’ll be a strong variety of enemies for Davy to tangle with in the full iteration of the game. My personal favorite was the Snow Fairy, as it utilized ice attacks to control and damage enemies.

Davy can also access Body Hack customizations, meaning he can swap out his legs, arms, and head for different weapons or buffs to enhance his attack style.

We were shown a few left-hand customizations during the preview. These customization options focused on unique attacks and enemy management, with notable examples including a gravity launcher that pulled enemies together and a gigantic sword.

Stupid Never Dies has a comic book-esque art style that helped make its world feel dreamy and vibrant.

A visual quirk that I enjoyed was the consistency of Davy’s character design – no matter if he was a Vampire, a Harpy, or a Golem, there were still elements of Davy’s outfit and key features visible on the character model. He’s always wearing his cap and jacket, even if he is briefly a Lich.

The game looks spectacularly colorful, with a punchy style of combat that’ll likely land with seasoned ARPG lovers. While there isn’t a full Stupid Never Dies release date yet, fans should keep an eye out for this eye-popping GPTrack50 release in 2026.
